TERMS & CONDITIONS
• All contestants must be 6 (six) years of age by 1st January 2020 in order to participate.
• All contestants under the age of 18 (eighteen) years must have permission from their parent or guardian to enter the competition and must also be accompanied by an adult whilst in the venue.
• The Discover Talent Competition reserves the right to choose who takes part in the live events based on the online application. Contestants will be notified via email or phone should their application be successful.
• Contestants must be earning less than $10,000 per year as a vocalist or performers.
• Contestants have not appeared as a finalist on any television competition.
• The Discover Talent Competition reserves the right to add/reduce the number of heats/finals/ contestants/acts in accordance with competition numbers or change event dates if required.
• The Discover Talent Competition reserves the right to change venue and times if necessary.
• The Discover Talent Competition will accept all music genres and performance.
• The Discover Talent Competition allows soloists, duos, trios and groups.
• Contestants/Acts may perform to a backing track, accompany themselves or have an accompanist (1). Contestants/Acts may perform
as a duo or a trio.
• Contestants/Acts must provide all backing tracks (Via Email and USB only) before the day of the event as specified in the information pack provided in their confirmation email. Contestants are to use mp3, wav or m4a formats – no video files.
• Contestants who are singers must provide backing track without backing vocals and in the correct key. No edits will be done to any backing tracks.
• We have a limitation of musical instruments we can allow on stage. Depending on requirements, The Discover Talent Competition reserves the right to restrict or reduce the number of instruments per act. We will inform each act accordingly on a case by case basis.
• If Contestants/Acts start as a duo, trio or group they must continue through the competition in the same format and cannot, under any circumstances, split and compete as soloists. An artist may choose to enter as soloist and ensemble under different performance names but will not be able to participate in the same heat, semi-final as two performances.
• The Discover Talent Competition rounds require each performer to prepare one song (max 3 minutes). After each contestant has performed, the judges will select the act which will then progress through to the next rounds.
• The Discover Talent Competition will offer a “People’s Choice” entry for the Contestant/Act that has the most crowd support.
• The events run from approximately 1pm until 8.00pm on different allocated dates.
• Each event is estimated to last around 2.5 hours per category.
• Contestants that do not confirm attendance by the given deadline may be disqualified from the competition.
• If a Contestant/Act are unable to attend their allocated heat, it is the responsibility of the Contestant/Act to reschedule otherwise they may be disqualified. Contestants/Acts that do not attend their allocated day of performance without prior notice of absence may be disqualified.
• Contestants/Acts who fail to register at the correct time without prior notice may be disqualified.
• The Judges’ decisions are final.
• Contestants will be selected by using a range of criteria according to their performance style: Performance, Engagement, Creativity, Presentation, Skills & Technique.
• If unsuccessful, contestants can re-enter the competition in following years. Priority may be given to those who have not competed.
• The Discover Talent Competition are designed to provide a positive and encouraging performance experience for everyone. We ask competitors, family and friends to support us in maintaining this positive environment at all times. Anyone disrespecting this will be asked to remove themselves from the event.
• You formally approve The Discover Talent Competition & Fire Entertainment to use your name, image and video to promote both
yourself and the Discover Talent Competition while you are involved in the showcases and after you finish. This promotion can take place on
any marketing mediums which achieve exposure for both parties at any time in the future.
• Additional prizes and categories may be added at the Organiser’s discretion.
•Prizes are allocated per act and not per members in one act.
•Producers are selected by fire music.
•Production prices may be subject to specific dates for delivery, it is the responsibility of the winning contestant to make themselves available to claim the prizes on the allocated dates. Not being available will result in the loss of their prize.
•Development package is for the artist development program for the current year/season running. It is the responsibility of the winning contestant to make themselves available to claim the prizes on the allocated dates. Not being available will result in the loss of their prize.
Cash prizes are primarily aimed for non-music performers. However, all winners will have the option to exchange their recording packages for the following cash prize:
We cannot guarantee nor are responsible for any deals offered externally by any of the judges. It’s against our policy to solicit work to our Judges unless they request it directly.
